Dance Classes

Dancing has been a passion of mine since the age of 6 when I began dancing on Saturdays at a local dance school.  I then began competing at the age 7 and enjoyed much success in both Ballroom and Latin and had the honour of dancing at the Hammersmith Palais in London, memories of that ballroom will last me forever.   I also had the honour of being one of the first students to achieve the Blue Ribbon award for Disco Dancing.

My passion for health, wellbeing, fitness and dance makes Lilac Dawn a unique business, offering to support people young and not quite so young to live life to the full, enjoy every second and have fun!  That is what life is all about.

I will be teaching a variety of classes from Ballroom & Latin for couples, Latin Rhythmix for those who love Latin dance but don't have a partner, to the increasingly popular Zumba.  Children's classes will also included in the Latin Rhythmix style of dance.  Dance has been a part of my life for more than 30 years, it has become a part of me and I hope that I can impart some of the passion I feel onto others.

One of my early dance teachers was my Brother in Law Kevin Snashall who (along with my sister Debbie) have inspired me to teach people to dance.  Kevin began dancing as a child himself and I have many fond memories of our dance lessons and the competitions we entered together.  Several years ago I used to accompany Kevin when he taught people to dance, to see the look of joy on people's faces when they learnt to dance was simply amazing. Sadly Kevin passed away in 2005 after a long and brave battle with Cancer.  His last few weeks were spent at the St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich and I have decided to make the Hospice my nominated charity this year.  So 10% of the profits from my dance classes will be going to them in memory of a great man and a wonderful dancer and teacher.
